In order to provide smoother uploading of files, we prefer to use FTP rather than our “Upload Your Ad” tool which is used primarily for uploading smaller files. The first step is to have an FTP account created for you. Please email remery@thecalifornian.com and ask to have an account created. All you will need to provide is a username and your requested password.
If you don’t have an FTP client, we have provided the following choices:
Mac: CyberDuck [download] [dmg] [7.72 mb] [setup information]
PC: FileZilla [download] [exe] [3.32 mb] [setup information]
If you have your own FTP client already, you can create a connection with the following information:
Hostname: www.californianprepress.com
Username: whatever you supplied
Password: whatever you supplied
Default directory: our system automatically routes your account to your own personal FTP folder.
When you are getting ready to publish, please complete a production order [download] [pdf] [2.20 mb]. Fill it out and return it to californianprepress@thecalifornian.com and CC remery@thecalifornian.com at least one day before you are scheduled to upload.
You may also fax the order to 831-754-4240 if you have a problem as you will need the full version of acrobat in order to save the forms changes. The areas that are in pink are the ones that we ask you to fill out. You should keep a copy of this file for your records for each time you upload your job.
Please call 754-4245 after your job has completed uploading to confirm delivery.
In addition, here are some other tools you may find handy when preparing your document.
Acrobat distiller job options (TheCalifornian.joboptions) – save in your Acrobat job options folder.
